A celebration was arranged by Bert Brand, one of the long term leaders of the WFS, to mark the 40th anniversary of the Warwickshire Fungus Survey. This anniversary coincided with Bert's 80th Birthday. The original meeting in 1965, which resulted in the birth of the WS. was actually on Bert's 40th Birthday.

The celebration followed a foray in Oversley Wood on 9 October, 2005 and was held in the Blue Boar Inn near Temple Grafton. 24 members of the survey attended at Bert's Invitation, some of whom were original members and a few had travelled a considerable distance to attend.
